William’s Trail Safety Tips

  1. Be safe, stay on trails and bring your map.
  2. Always obtain a map before you hit the trail.
  3. Know where you are at all times.
  4. Tell a responsible person where you are going and when you will be back.
  5. Wear comfortable, supportive shoes, and dress in layers for appropriate weather conditions.
  6. Bring water, a snack, first aid kit, map, and compass.
  7. If you are unsure of which trail to take, turn around and backtrack rather than risk losing your way.
  8. Poison ivy is common throughout our state. Learn to identify and avoid poison ivy.
  9. Carry out what you carry in.
  10. Don’t feed wildlife.
  11. Avoid sunburn always use sun block.
  12. Use insect repellent and conduct a tick check.
